Copenhagen, Denmark......ACE BioSciences, the company that develops vaccines to fight serious bacterial infections, is strengthening its business development (BD) capabilities with the appointment of Shire's Senior Vice President of Business Development, David Colpman, to the ACE BioSciences Board. Mr Colpman has nearly 25 years international pharmaceutical industry experience including three years spent in Denmark. Over the last nine years he has held senior BD roles at Shire, leading a range of strategic mergers, acquisitions, licensing and divestment programmes. During this time he spearheaded the $213 million divestment of a range of brands to Almirall, identified and project managed Shire's $1.6 billion acquisition of TKT, in-licensed 8 global development projects and oversaw the global out-licensing deal relating to the HIV drug SPD754. ‘ACE BioSciences has a very proactive partnering strategy, both for our travellers' diarrhea (TD) vaccine portfolio and the streptococcus work. David has the deal brokering/structuring expertise, the track record and international network to help us maximise the potential of our TD projects as they enter later stage clinical trials. He will also help us to identify synergistic opportunities in the global biotechnology arena. Prior to joining Shire in 1999, Mr Colpman was Head of Licensing at Glaxo Wellcome UK Ltd. Before that he was Head of Licensing and Alliances at Novo Nordisk in Denmark and Licensing Manager at Boots Pharmaceuticals. He speaks Japanese and is a Pharmacist by training.
